What is IFS?

Do you ever stop and notice the voice in your head?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a powerful, evidence-based therapeutic approach that helps us understand and work with the many "parts" or sub-personalities that exist within our minds. These parts often emerge as protective mechanisms, shaped by life experiences, to help us survive and adapt.

However, these parts can sometimes find themselves in conflict—with each other and with our core Self. In IFS, the Self represents the confident, compassionate, and whole essence at the center of every individual.

The IFS model focuses on healing wounded parts and fostering harmony within the internal system by shifting the dynamics that create discord. It invites curiosity and care, offering space for internal differentiation, integration, and ultimately, wholeness. In IFS, all parts are welcome.
